Painter Haruyo Morita and video artist Jennie Feyen come together for a contemporary exhibition called Transcend. The resulting collaboration brings us a soulful and ethereal collection of works from each artist’s individual art practice.
Each art work in the exhibition hints at individual realities. But as the visitor walks through the exhibition space, Transcend highlights the subtle similarities and reminds them that we are all co-existing in a single shared universe.
Morita’s Soul Portraits are a result of meditating on each of her portrait subjects and translating their aura and energy into shapes and colour on canvas. Feyen’s video installation My Core and experimental video collection To Dream In Japanese draw deeply from Japanese performance art and folklore. The exhibition will also feature a collaborative piece by both artists which will invite visitors to interact with the artwork. |

About the Contemporary Art Mini Series |
| The contemporary art mini-series of exhibitions by The Japan Foundation Gallery showcases contemporary works by both Japanese and Australian artists.
The series will feature two exhibitions and showcase three different Sydney-based artists who work across various media: Chris Yee (illustrator), Haruyo Morita (painter), and Jennie Feyen (video artist).
Their works are influenced by modern interpretations of Japanese tradition, showcasing the fusion of Japanese and Australian art and culture. |
